CONCERT: DSCH SHOSTAKOVICH ENSEMBLE IN LISBON

DSCH Shostakovich Ensemble present Schubertiade with Pinto-Ribeiro, Liebeck e Zlotnikov at Lisbon’s Centro Cultural de Belém

On November 6th, 2022, at the Centro Cultural de Belém, the acclaimed group DSCH - Shostakovich Ensemble presents a concert dedicated to the music of one of the most brilliant names in the History of Music: Franz Schubert. Schubertiade was the name given at the time to meetings created around the universe of Schubert. This concert takes place in this spirit. It will include three famous Schubert masterpieces: the Grand Duo, the Arpeggione, and the Piano Trio No. 1. For this concert, the pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, artistic director of the DSCH, has invited two top musicians on the international scene: the English virtuoso violinist Jack Liebeck, accompanied by his magnificent Guadagnini violin «Ex-Wilhelmj» from 1785, and Israeli cellist Kyril Zlotnikov, founder of the Jerusalem Quartet and with an extensive award-winning discography that includes the recording, with Daniel Barenboim, of the complete Mozart Trios for EMI.

Schubertiade was the name given at the time to meetings that had Schubert's figure and music at the center. It was, in short, a circle of friends of the composer and it was among them that these evenings of Schubertiades were coined. It is, therefore, in this spirit, and going back to the Vienna of two centuries ago, that this concert by the DSCH – Schostakovich Ensemble takes place, which will include three famous Schubert masterpieces: the Grand Duo, the Arpeggione and the first Trio with Piano. – Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro
